Dark Oak-aged Rum
Our dark oak-aged rum is hand-crafted in small batches here in Lyme Regis - approx. 250 bottles at a time. Following fermentation with 100% pure molasses, the resulting rum "wash" is then twice-distilled before maturation for 5 years on French oak. All the magic takes place in 2 out-buildings in our Dorset garden. Our business is named after the local jurassic cliff "Black Ven" which we can see from our distillery.
Distiller / co-founder John Tucker believes dark rum should never have sugar or colouring added to the finished product. Similar to some dark rums produced in the Caribbean, our dark rum is over-proof at 50% abv. Whilst it is strong, our dark rum is deceptively smooth. Perfect for sipping neat, or with an ice cube or indeed mixed into your favourite cocktail, it is delicious, with wonderful natural notes of caramel, coffee & a touch of vanilla.

Citrus Spiced Rum
Our citrus spiced rum is our first high quality spiced rum. The natural oils & juice of oranges, lemons and limes are perfectly balanced with a high quality dark muscovado sugar and used to partially dilute one of the casks on its "dark rum" journey. The result is an easy-drinking citrus-forward rum, 37.5% abv.
It is perfect sipped neat or with an ice cube. It works very well with a touch of strong ginger. We love our rums, with this great cordial from Dorset Ginger:

For those preferring their rum neat, try a small slice of fresh ginger root. Sublime!
White Rum
Our white rum is quite simply just a well-made, tasty white rum - perfect for mixing into a cubra libre or your favourite cocktail. The bottle strength is 40% abv.
From a quality perspective, it's comforting to know that the ingredients used in the fermentations of all 3 types of rum, are exactly the same. The first distillation is the same too. It's only on the second distillation where we decide which product we're making.
