My name is John Tucker. I wasn't intending to start a rum distillery, but I wanted to drink a British dark rum that is wholly made here from the very finest ingredients. I found there are only a small handful of truly British rums in the UK; most are spiced rums made from a Caribbean rum base.
With the encouragement of my wife Sandy & my friend Charlie, I set out to create our British dark rum, one that would stand shoulder to shoulder with the finest brown spirits across the globe. The natural sweetness of the molasses shines through, but we don't add any sugar to the final drink. I am really pleased with the dark rum we have created. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. It has already won awards in 2023 from Taste of The West (Gold) and The Great Taste Awards.
Most of our ingredients are sourced locally in the south-west. We only use the best-quality bakers' molasses. Oh wow! you should smell the distillery when a new fermentation is underway! Most modern molasses is made to a price and over-processed; that is, reducing the sugar content available for fermentation. We don't add sugar to our fermentations, because we don't have to - our molasses is that good. This means more flavour in the finished product
