At Black Ven Distillery, we believe a great spiced rum starts with great rum. That’s why our Citrus Spiced Rum begins with our own British rum, distilled from carefully selected molasses and matured in oak before we introduce the fresh citrus flavours.

The result is a distinctive, citrus-forward spiced rum that balances the natural character of the spirit with fresh fruit and just the right amount of sweetness.

Real Oranges, Lemons and Limes

What makes our Citrus Spiced Rum special is our use of real fruit.

We use fresh oranges, lemons and limes, incorporating both their juice and the natural oils found in their skins. These ingredients bring a bright, refreshing citrus character to the finished rum.

We balance these flavours with dark muscovado sugar, adding enough sweetness to complement the fruit without overpowering the rum itself.

Made from Our Own Oak-Aged British Rum

Unlike simply flavouring a purchased spirit, we make the rum that goes into every bottle.

Our process starts with high-quality baker’s molasses, which we ferment and distil ourselves using a two-stage distillation process.

The rum then spends approximately one year maturing in oak before being used to create our Citrus Spiced Rum.

This gives us a carefully crafted base spirit, with the character of the rum remaining an important part of the finished drink.

A Balance of Citrus, Rum and Sweetness

Our aim is to create a British spiced rum where the ingredients work together.

Fresh citrus juice and oils provide the distinctive fruit character, while dark muscovado sugar adds a carefully measured sweetness. We then bring the rum to its finished strength of 37.5% ABV.

The result is an easy-drinking, citrus-forward rum that allows the fresh fruit and the underlying spirit to shine through.
